At some point in the future, Gas Heating is likely to become obsolete. The government has committed to moving away from gas towards Green Energy Production. Scotland already produces more Green Energy than it consumes, but there is capacity for much more.
Currently, all energy costs are linked to the price of Gas. As much of our electricity is already generated by Renewables, the industry is likely to change this in the near future. As a result, you could see your Utilities supplier charging different rates based on how Green the production method. With this in mind, the likelihood is that in the future, electricity will be significantly cheaper than Gas. So changing to Energy Saving Electric Heaters now, will future proof your home, as well as minimise your outgoings.

Old v New
Older Electric Heaters used controls which were fairly rudimentary in their design, making them inefficient. With modern controls, you can control the temperature of your room to a fraction of a degree. This provides the optimum comfort using the minimum amount of electricity. The inclusion of Open Window Detection, means that if someone leaves a window open, your heaters don’t go into overdrive trying to compensate.
Modern storage heaters are significantly more efficient that the old ones everyone loves to hate! In the past these were just a panel heater with a load of bricks to slow down the release of the heat, and a wee flap at the top to let some more heat out. If there was any left! The new ones will still allow you to take advantage of lower off peak electricity rates, but are dramatically more efficient in every way. On charging, due to highly thermally efficient insulation materials, they retain the heat far better. They aslo have a far greater level of input control allowing you to store as much, or as little as you need. On the output side, you have far greater controllability over when and how much heat is released. There’s even versions with Wi-fi smart control.
Smart Control
We offer Smart Wi-Fi controls on some of the heaters, controlled from a smart phone app. This gives you optimum levels of control. It also Offers the ability to control remotely. So if you’re unexpectedly delayed, you can switch the heating off, or vice versa, allowing further savings. Included with the Wi-Fi controls is the GPS function, which allows you to set a distance from home. This means that if you’re out irregular hours, you can automatically switch the heating on when you get withing a set distance from home.
Wi-fi control is also popular with owners of holiday homes. You may not be present for extended periods, but you can still control the heating remotely. Put the heating on for a few hours during a cold snap, or in advance of you sneaking in an extra weekend away, the posibilities are endless.
If you already have a wet system, but want to move away from Gas, we offer an electric wet system. The Energy Efficient Combi Boiler. There’s 2 options, for Heating and Hot Water, or Heating only. These are compatible with conventional wet radiators or wet underfloor systems, so it may not always require a full installation.
Installation is carried out in accordance with the current wiring regulations, and all relevant certification will be supplied, so you know you’re getting the job done properly.
